OSHA Requirements
- For five or less employees, you only need one portable restroom. There may be a hand-washing station on the inside of the restroom.
- For five or more employees, a separate hand-washing facility is needed outside of the portable restroom.
- Toilets should be placed within 200 feet or 60 meters of actual work area.
- Containment trays are required to be put under all portable toilets on each job site.
Why does this matter?
First, the fine for public urination in California is $270 for first time offenders. Furthermore, providing a portable restroom on a job site is likely to provide significant labor and time savings by reducing the distance an employee must travel to use the restroom.
